CSIS Digital Reports
Working with policy think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies, I had the opportunity to illustrate for and design digital reports presenting their research.
Role
Information & Web Design Intern
The Challenge: Tasteful Policy Visualization
Working with the award-winning iDeas Lab, we turned written documents into bespoke digital reports presented locally and overseas. Given the diplomatic nature of topics such as overfishing in the South China Sea, water safety in the Middle East, and unmanned Chinese vessels around Taiwan, it was imperative to design tastefully and carefully.
Selected Projects
Deep Blue Scars
Goal: The South China Sea hosts multiple marine life layers. We needed to communicate its diversity—and fragility—through illustration and data visualization.

Charting 2024
Goal: With a report on data insights, multimedia took the backstage: how could it support my colleagues’ visualizations instead?

Surviving Scarcity
Goal: With most aquifer graphics based on a Western context, the CSIS Middle East Program needed graphics rooted in MENA contexts.

Global Order
Goal: The world order is shifting. With such a significant topic, this report needed art direction that respected its message.
Skirting the Shores
Goal: In a rare move, the world’s first autonomous drone carrier circumnavigated Taiwan. We had to visualize its capabilities—especially without licensed photos.
Press: Newsweek, Financial Times, EurAsian Times, Marine Insight
Defending the Dollar
Goal: Illustrate assets for a six-part video series explaining the American Dollar.
