HomeWorks Energy Safety & Training

The largest home performance contractor in Massachusetts, HomeWorks Energy (HWE) employs hundreds of HVAC technicians.

As Training, Development, and Safety Intern, I designed infographics, training material, and handouts to help employees transition into leadership and learn specialty HVAC skills—all while emphasizing safety.

The Challenge: Everchanging Training Needs

From dangerous situations like lead hazards, to training external HVAC businesses, HomeWorks Energy is faced with constantly developing training needs.

Aside from finding the right information, presentations had to be modernized and prepared for adult learners.

Selected Projects

Situation-Behavior-Impact Handout

Goal: New crew leaders must navigate team dynamics and customer needs. The SBI model provides a useful reference, though I customized the copy and handout design for our needs.

Procedures Handout

Goal: With crew leaders managing their own teams, they must juggle more tasks. I designed a handout to guide them through the workday, distilling info into bite-sized sections.

Lead Hazard Redesign

Goal: Updating (and improving) hazard signs to comply with latest OSHA regulations.

Crew Leader Training Revamp

Goal: Modernize training presentations and improve information design.

Heat Pump Infographic

Goal: Technicians working with heat pumps need to understand the underlying physics. I designed this diagram for trainers to use as a visual aid.

Document Designs

Goal: With various brands and products marketed by HomeWorks, impromptu document templates were needed.

Mission: Job Site Board Game

Goal: To help crew leaders practice for adverse situations, I lead development and design for a roleplaying board game, creating over sixty cards.
