The Challenge: Growth Outside the Classroom
Working with graduate program director Sheila Pontis, our team organized opportunities for academic and professional growth outside of the classroom. This was especially important for busy second-years and adjusting first-years.
I was in charge of keeping the community up to date with a monthly MailChimp newsletter, covering talks, class presentations, and industry events. This required constant communication with professors, students, and academic staff, to keep up with the department’s latest opportunities and accomplishments.

Goal: My peers come from diverse backgrounds: mechanical engineering, neuroscience, computer science and geospatial mapping. With the newly compiled alumni database, I saw an opportunity to highlight unexpected career paths for the portfolio review session.
