Chinatown Barriers
Communities of color in Chinatown DC are facing displacement.
To uplift local stories, Chinatown Art Studio organized a 223 feet mural project, representing the community by painting on concrete barriers. With a blank website, they needed a way to organize the project in preparation for grant applications.
I designed the map and webpage, while Lucy Mui designed the rest of the website.
PROCESS
Each group was anywhere from 1-3 barriers, so I decided to keep the map abstract, using the plaza center as a reference. Rather than helping viewers locate a specific mural—likely overwhelming with over 40 individual barriers—the map focused on section stories.
