With a report specifically about data, multimedia and text took to the backstage. I was entrusted with finding ways to highlight my colleague Jaehyun Han’s data visualizations.

I decided that we needed more than the built-in layout options in our story editor Shorthand. After the mockups were approved, I developed the report layout through vanilla CSS.

PROCESS

With a single column layout, the data visualizations were able to pop. This was also a versatile layout for choosing which visualizations were most important in each section. The illustrations and text highlights also added to the story, rather than overpowering the visualizations.
